Celebration of Fine Art

Scottsdale's Celebration of Fine Art: Where art lovers and artists connect.

Joining Hands

Working together artists create new and unique collaborations. This week ceramic artist Joe Woodford and Painter/Sculptor Whitney Peckman joined together to create a wonderful ceramic vessel made by Joe with one of Whitney’s Japanese designs.

These two very talented artists admire each others work and enjoy the thrill of experimenting. This piece is due to be fired, weather permitting, on Thursday. The artists are discussing glazes and colors now. Each step in the process brings new challanges. While Joe knows his ceramics and glazes the design and what impact it should have is Whitney’s. It is difficult for artists who haven’t spent a lot of time with ceramic glazes to understand that both the chemical reactions and the heat work together to create each color. We are all very excited to see the results.

One of the great joys of the Celebration of Fine Art is that we encourage the artists to grow and reach for new goals constantly. They encourage each other, push each other, help each other in many ways. It is truly a creatively charged atmosphere.

  1. Debbie

Hey, your post says July 1st, I thought it was March??? Great story, how did the firing go!

  2. Gayle Crawford

Surely wish we could be there to see the results of the firing and also congratulate the dear artists.

Thankfully, we did spend a marvelous week with all in February.

  3. Gayle Crawford

    Greetings to Joe and Whitney.

  4. Gayle, it was so EXCITING! And what a success it turned out to be! We are already planning more collaborations for next year, and we hope you’ll be here to see one pulled from the fire.
