Sally Dryer
Sally creates architectural kaleidoscopic sculpture. A mouthful, but no single word describes her unique work. She got her BFA in Mixed Media Sculpture from San Jose State University in California and then received a full scholarship to the San Francisco Academy of Art. Since 1981 she has worked full time as a creator of magical sculptures.
Brilliant hues, dazzling refractions of light and interesting textures combine to create works that truly have to be seen in person to be thoroughly appreciated. Her work is about light, texture, reflections, elements of nature and fun. She enjoys each piece she creates playing with new elements and old to create another sculpture using a reflection in glass, wood, mirror and found objects, each telling a story.
Sally spent part of her summer at Volcano Art Center Gallery in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park on the island of Hawaii. She was obviously inspired to create “Can you hear me now?” during her stay. She also created some other exceptional pieces and gave demonstrations and free talks at the Visitor Center. She will have many new works of art at the 2008 Celebration.
